Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026. How we handle personal information collected through this website.
1. Who this policy applies to
This Privacy Policy explains how Freedom Family Law Corporation (“Freedom Family Law,” “we,” “us”) handles personal information collected through this website (freedomfamilylaw.ca), including information you give us when you submit a contact form, book a consultation, or send us an email.
This policy does not apply to information you share with us once we’ve formally agreed to act for you as your lawyer. That information is governed by our engagement letter and by solicitor-client privilege, not by this policy.
2. The website does not create a solicitor-client relationship
Browsing this site, sending us an inquiry, or booking a consultation does not make us your lawyer. Until we’ve completed a conflict check and signed a written engagement letter with you, information you send us through the website is not protected by solicitor-client privilege. Please don’t share confidential details about your matter through our website forms or unsolicited email.
3. What we collect
- What you give us: your name, email, phone number, and any context you share when you fill in a form, book a call, or send an email.
- Standard request data: our hosting provider logs standard server data (IP address, browser, page requested, referrer) as part of normal website operation.
4. How we use it
We use website-collected information only to:
- Respond to your inquiry;
- Confirm or reschedule a consultation you’ve booked;
- Send you a follow-up if appropriate.
We don’t use website-collected information for marketing lists, we don’t sell it, and we don’t share it with third parties for their own purposes.
5. How long we keep it
If you contact us and don’t go on to retain us, we keep your inquiry only as long as needed to respond and follow up — typically a few months — and then delete it. If you do retain us, information becomes part of your client file and is handled under the engagement letter, not this policy.
6. Third parties we use
We rely on a small number of service providers to run the website and respond to inquiries:
- Website hosting (Hostinger);
- Booking platform for online consultations (LeadConnector);
- Email service used to send and receive messages;
- AI tools used to triage inquiries and assist in drafting replies (see section 7 below).
Each of these providers handles the data we pass through them under their own terms and privacy commitments.
7. AI in processing inquiries
We may use AI tools to help us read inquiries, triage them, and draft replies. This applies only to pre-engagement correspondence through the website; it does not apply to information shared with us after you’ve signed an engagement letter with us as your lawyer (which is governed by that engagement and by professional obligations). By contacting us through the website you consent to AI being involved in handling your message. See our Terms & Conditions for the broader version of this clause.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and we use reasonable safeguards to protect information you send through it. No online transmission is ever 100% secure, so please don’t send anything highly sensitive (financial details, ID numbers, confidential matter facts) through the website — wait until we’ve formally agreed to act for you and can give you a secure channel.
9. Cookies
Our website may set basic cookies needed for site functionality. We don’t currently use third-party analytics or advertising trackers. If we add analytics in the future, we’ll update this policy.
10. Your rights
Under British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you can:
- Ask what information we have about you;
- Ask us to correct or delete it;
- File a complaint with the BC Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner or the federal Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Contact us using the details below to exercise these rights.
11. Children
Our services are for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 through this website.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “last updated” date at the top of the page.
